Funny to think of it now, but the reason i started this blog in the first place was to act as a support system and venting vessell for the process of writing/publishing/promoting my novel.

Imagined while still in New Paltz (long fucking time ago), and with the full story being completed in the fall of 2006 (long fucking time ago), i signed a deal with DefWords Press around this time last year (still too fucking long ago).

The process has been…fucking brutal. When you spend as long as i did, producing a 120,000 word, 450 page manuscript - it’s really a labor of love and loss trying to mold something of that size to the vision of those who would pay to print the fucking thing.

In the last year I’ve abused this novel, inside and out. Ive added an entire new thread to the plot and countless characters to support that effort. Ive been through three editors at the publishing company ranging from recent grad students to senior citizens. What you see above is what i hope the final process will entail. Im ripping the entire thing apart, permanentley amputing characters and threads and elements that the new editor (who i love) hates. This book has been rewritten more times than the bible. But what’s been in my way this last month has been a major wall in how the story would actually work in a believable way. As a result of adding and removing so much, i fell in love with parts that now require support since i cut the heads off of their purpose in the first place. And as a writer, the most difficult part to deal with is that the things that need fixing can’t just be written. I could sit here for weeks in front of the keyboard, but until i answer the question of how…there’s no goddamn thing to write. The work required is sitting down with my eyes closed and just thinking of ways to solve the issue. Its like an aneurysym flavored jigsaw puzzle. And it takes forever. I dont have ‘forever’. Im ther busiest human i know. My free hours need to be devoted to inviting you morons to slams and, ya know, sleeping.

But tonight scribbling on this fucking envelope i think ive got it solved. And finaly. fucking fina-fucking-ly - i can write again. course now im too tired to so. but it looks like tommorrow, ill have a road out of this mess. and maybe by next spring - Eat The Rich will exist in the real, purchaseable world.
